Too Faced Chocolate Gold Review & Swatches

Hello my Vintage Darlings ♡

As you may already know from my last Too Faced review, this is absolutely one of my top favorite makeup brands! Their packaging is always lovely, glitter is their favorite, and they’re cruelty free!

When I first heard about the release of the Chocolate Gold palette, I just knew that I had to have it. Being that I’m someone who loves any type of shimmery or glittery eyeshadow, this palette seemed it would be perfect for me. It’s a mix of metallic and matte shadows with most of them being metallic. After seeing the first few photos of it that Too Faced posted, I simply fell in love with the shades and was already thinking about all the gorgeous looks I could create!

Since purchasing it two weeks ago, I’ve been using it each time I’ve done my makeup so far and it has really impressed me. My current love for this palette has inspired me to do this review so others out there can decide to give it a try as well!

First off, the packaging of this palette is gorgeous! It looks like a regular Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette was dipped in gold! It will really add a fancy touch to your makeup collection.

There’s not much else to say about the packaging, so I’m going to get right into the swatches and how I feel about the shadows!

The colors in the Chocolate Gold palette are honestly so amazing! They’re truly the best metallics I’ve ever used. First off, they’re surprisingly super pigmented. When I first got this palette, I originally swatched it on my arm without any primer. All I did was one swipe and the color payoff was crazy! Obviously I was even more amazed when I did the swatches using a primer.

Another plus for these shades is how smoothly they go on. They don’t feel chalky or chunky, they go on smooth as butter and blend amazingly well!

The only problem I came across was with two shades: Classy & Sassy and Decadent. I found that Classy & Sassy didn’t glide on as well as the other metallics and it took a few swipes to build up the color. However I found that using a glitter glue primer for this shadow solved that issue and really makes the shade pop!

As for Decadent, this shade is just a no all around for me. When swatching it I noticed not only was it very patchy, but that it also felt extremely gritty when I was putting it on. Luckily for me I don’t really ever use matte blacks, so it’s not a problem that this color didn’t work out.

Other than that, these shades truly apply nicely and blend well. My personal favorite shades are Love & Cocoa, Rich Girl, and Rollin in Dough, which is my new favorite base shade!

If I were to rate this palette, I’d give it a 9 out of 10 because I’m someone who loves a good metallic shadow.

Let me know in the comments if you guys decide to give this palette a try or if you already have!
